Music in the Parks
- With Children
A series of free concerts featuring jazz and classical music, and hosted throughout the summer months at different parks and gardens in the city, where young and emerging musicians in Barcelona have a chance to showcase their talent.
This concert series presents music as an enticing incentive for exploring the many treasured green spaces maintained by the city of Barcelona. But that’s just one of the objectives of Music in the Parks, which unfolds throughout the warm months of summer to introduce the public to some of the most promising rising stars in the live jazz and classical music landscape.
These concerts present an amazing opportunity to end the day, or start the night, in a refreshing and warm environment, enjoying the sounds of live music from within naturally beautiful environments like the interior patios of the residential blocks of the Eixample, the Diagonal Mar Park, or the Turó del Putxet gardens. In last year's edition, to mark International Music Day (June 21), the concert series presented what was bound to be an unforgettable evening, granting the public a rare opportunity to enjoy the patio of the historic La Modelo prison, recently approved for general use and refitted with a newly designed garden space.
In addition to the music itself, each event gives guests the option to take guided tours in the relevant venue, so concertgoers can complement their musical experience with an extra infusion of knowledge about the history and legacy of the city. And because the event takes place at various venues, each neighborhood and district in Barcelona is represented, making the series an exciting way to get to know a different corner of the city with each concert!
