Tibidabo, aka the Magic Mountain, is one of Barcelona’s main tourist attractions, providing stunning views of the city from a 512m elevation, at the peak of the Collserola Ridge.
Aside from its natural beauty, the Collserola Ridge is home to numerous points of interest:
Perhaps the most popular is the Tibidabo Amusement Park, dating back to 1899, making it the oldest amusement park in Spain and the second-oldest in all of Europe.
Some of the primary attractions are still in operation today, like the iconic Aeroplane, which first opened in 1928 as the first ever flight simulator. Another historic attraction is the Atalaya, inaugurated in December of 1921, a watchtower lifting visitors up to heights of 50 meters. And let’s not forget the Automata Museum, home to a truly unique collection of pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries.
But there’s more on this mountaintop than just history. Visitors can also find modern and even futuristic attractions like Dididado, the first 4D cinema in Catalonia, the rollercoaster, or the famous hall of mirrors, Miramiralls.
At the edge of the park are still more sights to see, like the Temple of the Sacred Heart, an enormous temple built in the Neo-Gothic style and crowned by a bronze statue of the Sacred Heart. A quick ride up the elevator brings you to the outdoor terrace, granting some of the finest views to be had of Barcelona.
To the right of the majestic temple, you can visit the primitive hermitage built in 1886, at the invitation of Dorotea de Chopitea, a Barcelona resident who lived in what is today the Hotel Granvía.
The Collserola Tower is yet another sight not to be missed. Built in 1992 on the occasion of the Olympic Games, it’s a true masterpiece of engineering, standing at 288 meters and granting some of the greatest panoramic views of the city from its observation deck on the tenth floor.
Last but not least is the Fabra Astronomical Observatory, dedicated since 1901 to three fields of science: astronomy, the study of planets and comets, meteorology, with troves of climate data recorded without interruption since 1914, and seismology, capturing regional, national, and international seismic data. The observatory offers guided tours through which visitors can learn all about its inner workings.
For all these reasons and more, the Collserola Ridge has established itself as one of Barcelona’s favorite spots, for visitors and locals alike.
Es un parque divertido y ameno, lo pasas bien, tengas la edad que tengas, la comida no esta mal, un poco cara, pero vale la pena, Las atracciones fantásticas, tanto las de niños, como las de mas mayores, mis hijos, que tienen 8 años, se lo pasan en grande. Además esta el cine en 4D pasas un rato divertido y diferente, ahora han puesto nuevas atracciones de realidad virtual y vale la pena pasar el día, no se arrepiente uno. Ademas solo por las vistas, ya vale la pena.
Un domingo por la mañana decidimos realizar una visita al Observatori Fabra, el cual es uno de esos lugares que si vives en Barcelona sabes que existe y lo ves muy a menudo al estar situado en la falda del Tibidabo, sin embargo no recaes nunca en que puede ser muy interesante visitarlo. Pues así fue, al final nos decidimos ir un día y realmente nos quedamos sorprendidos de la visita que ofrecen los mismos científicos. En nuestro caso nos la hizo Alfons, y fue espectacular. Sus explicaciones nos situaron al pasado de Barcelona, quien, como y por qué se hizo ese observatorio. Posteriormente visitas diversas zonas del mismo e incluso el telescopio principal de la cúpula. La astronomía, la meteorología y la sismología son las tres áreas de trabajo de este equipo de científicos que a día de hoy siguen trabajando en este emblemático edificio.
Es una visita muy recomendable y además muy barata, ya que solamente cuesta 2€ por persona. Francamente, no os la podéis perder.
Collserola es un parque muy extenso que para los habitantes de Barcelona y otras ciudades y pueblos limítrofes con él supone una zona de recreo con múltiples posibilidades. Puedes practicar deporte, hacer excursiones, visitar lugares de interés o simplemente contemplar a vista de pájaro, desde la Carretera de las Aguas, la ciudad de Barcelona.

Como te he dicho las posibilidades son infinitas; hay ermitas, museos, bares, pantanos, restaurantes, lugares solitarios, arboles singulares como el pi d'en Xandri, zonas de avistamiento de aves, ciclistas, runners y unos cuantos jabalíes.
