Barcelona is apparently a very attractive city for audiovisual productions.

Barcelona is currently at the center of attention of the film industry, both for famous actors and actresses, and internationally-renowned directors. The proof lies in the sheer number of films that have used the city as its set and location.

Woody Allen, Pedro Almodóvar, Manuel Huerga, Tom Tykwer, Cédric Klapisch, Giovanni Veronesi, Michelangelo Antonioni, Peter Greenaway, Alejandro Amenábar, and Fernando Trueba are just some of the directors who have made movies in Barcelona.

The Barcelona Film Commission, a division of the City Hall, promotes Barcelona as an ideal location for both Spanish and international productions. This is a public and free service directed towards the audiovisual sector, which works to promote movie shoots in the city, manage administrative matters, and grant filming permissions.
