The Women’s Race comes to Barcelona in fall 2019 after a successful tour throughout the country. Over 100,000 women have participated in cities like Valencia, Madrid, Vitoria, Gijón, A Coruña, Seville, and Zaragoza, and so the Barcelona event marks the eighth occasion in which thousands of women come out to run, jog, or walk to show their support for the fight against cancer. This ever more popular women-only event has been taking place in the country for 15 years.
The 2019 edition will be held on November 17th, as participants traverse 7.8 km of Barcelona city streets, starting and ending at the Fountain of Montjuïc, with a maximum duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes, suitable for all fitness levels. This is a great opportunity to see pink-clad women take over central thoroughfares normally reserved for cars and motorcycles, like the Gran Vía, Avenida Paral·lel, or Calle Sepúlveda.
Since it first got going in 2004, when Marea Rosa ran the streets of Madrid, the Women’s Race has attracted over one million female runners, and raised over one million Euros for charity. This fun and meaningful event is also one of the main reasons running has become so popular in Spain over the course of the last decade.
