The Fundació Antoni Tàpies (Antoni Tàpies Foundation) was founded to promote the study and knowledge of contemporary and modern art. With this object in mind, it opened its doors in a building designed by Modernist architect Domènech i Montaner, newly restored for its current use, and the first in the neighborhood of the Eixample to integrate industrial technology and incorporate steel and exposed brick into its design. The work “Nube y Silla,” made with aluminum pipes and wire, is the hallmark piece in the collection.

The Fundació Antoni Tàpies fosters collaborations between specialists in different fields, in order to further understanding and engagement with contemporary art, and to that effect, also hosts temporary exhibitions, symposiums, film screenings, and other events in homage to Antoni Tàpies. The impressive Fundació holds one of the most complete and extensive collections of works by this artist.
